The second part of our journey was the area around Los Angeles. We arrived in Santa Monica and decided to stay there for the whole week as it was a good starting point to explore the city itself as well as the beaches. All the famous places around Hollywood like the Walk of Fame or Grauman’s Chinese Theatre were too crowded and we just made a short stop there.
We prefered to take the Mulholland Drive from where we had some wonderful overviews. We've also been to Griffith Park and to Griffith Oberservatory from where you have a great view over the city (very recommended after sunset and *hey* parking and entrance are free!).
On our tour through the city we've also been to the Grand Central Market in Downtown and to Union Station as well as to the Dodger Stadium. On 9/11 we've been to LAX where they had a special light show.
All I ever expected from southern California I found at the beaches in the south. Endless white sand, the waves of the Pacific Ocean and of course sunshine the whole day. We've been to Venice Beach, Long Beach, Huntington Beach and Newport Beach.

At the end of the week it was time to leave beautiful California. Next destination: Las Vegas.
